Contrary to a rumor I’d heard and even repeated, GOProud is not disbanding.
Last night they had a comedy event fundraiser in DC just to prove it at RFD, a popular Chinatown venue, with four (straight male) comics from District Comedy, Simone (who MC’ed), Pat Coffey, Wes Martens, and headliner Mike Finazzo. There was a lot of DC vs Baltimore humor and there were a lot of jokes about blacks and whites. The comics, mainly Democrats as well as heterosexuals, did well relating to a non-Democratic gay male audience (over 50% of the crowd) even with such (planned?) faux pas as Wes Marten’s “I was so stupid as a teen — all I was looking for was the same thing as everyone else here then…oh…well…maybe not the same thing….” But the half dozen lesbians there seem to have left pretty early, including the one who is a GOProud board member and her partner and friend. And one young straight woman got some humor harassment from Pat Coffey that went over the line.
LaSalvia actually had the best line of the night: “When we decided to start GOProud they told me we would be hated by the right and by the left. And that’s how we roll at GOProud, we take it in both ends.” Simone did a lot of interracial dating jokes and stories: “I’ve fucked more white girls than anorexia” and “Black guys and white girls go together like white guys and Asian girls. It’s the circle of life.” Which led Wes Marten to retaliate with: “So it turns out the same chemical that is in Viagra is found in watermelon, something called citrulline. I don’t want to say the brothers have been holding back, but…” Wes also told a lot of self-deprecatory jokes about aging and being married: “I’m an older comic, all my drugs have become medications – I went from Acapulco gold to Centrum silver overnight. I got some medical marijuana in California, but they gave it to me as a suppository. And I couldn’t get it lit.”
Coffey, aside from making the women in the audience uncomfortable, had the best political jokes: “The Republicans have their first lesbian Senator…Lindsey Graham,” “I’m glad you found the venue, we we’re originally going to hold it in a giant closet” and “People get confused by gay Republicans. The IRS didn’t know whether to target you or not.” As well as humor about his status as a near 40 year old virgin: “My sex life took a hit recently. My keyboard broke.”
Finazzo did mainly humorous stories mainly about his own marriage. Amusing but not roflmao and not easily transcribed.

As a libertarian, I always have a complicated relationship to CPAC, which I first attended in 2007 or 2008. Mitt Romney dropped out that election cycle the day CPAC started, and the woman running Mitt Romney’s DC campaign had paid for a booth at CPAC. She was really pissed at Mitt for dropping out, and Ron Paul was her second choice. She offered the booth to the local Ron Paul Revolution collective, and we seized it in the name of the liberated people.
I’ve gone every year since, mainly to vote for Ron (and now Rand) Paul in straw polls and see all my libertarian FaceBook friends who I often haven’t met in person. It’s been educational – I’ve learned that people under 40 don’t know what a mimeograph is. (As I was running that Ron Paul booth with what I had on hand, a very cute 22 year old asked me if he could have the copy of reason magazine with Ron Paul on the cover I was using as my only “banner” in my inherited booth on the wall behind me, and I told him I had been a subscriber since I was younger than he, and only a few years before that it had been a mimeographed kitchen table publication. He looked puzzled and cocked his handsome little head. Not to be pervy.)
So I went this year even though it was inconveniently in Prince George’s County, Maryland, at National Harbor, which apparently markets itself as being in DC. CPAC apparently claimed they were relocating because they needed more space, but attendance as measured by straw poll voting was understandably down from the presidential race years of 2011 and 2012 (2900 people voted this year vs over 3000 those years). The real reason for the relocation was to make it impossible for people like the Occupy protesters who showed up last year to show up this year, since the Achilleus of the center-right, Andrew Breitbart, is no longer with us to dispatch the Hadean underfae as he did in 2012, having passed away only a few weeks later.
That ploy worked. The John and Anthony Podesta sex workers from the misnamed “ThinkProgress” found CPAC as did Betsy Rothstein, the usually talented editor of FishBowl. But not many other so-called “liberals” or leftovers. And Ms. Rothstein, a wealthy white girl who lives in gentrifying Adams Morgan in DC and moved there after the city became 50% white, having never been in a majority black jurisdiction like Prince George’s County, amazingly reported that CPAC was in Baltimore!
The concubines at StinkRegress, taking time off from tossing the Podesta lobbyist brothers’ salads, found one kooky attendee (and you could get into lots of panels without even registering) who asked a silly question about race relations, and wrote a story implying that he was a panelist and that this minor panel was a central part of the conference. Whores gonna ho. What’s funny about that is that even approved MSNBC black tokens like Melinda Perry-Harris are on record as saying that a black conservative or libertarian or even moderate has a faster career advancement than a black leftover. (Though as the grifter clan named Jackson shows us, the black leftovers who claw their way to office over the other lobsters in the pot get bigger rewards until indicted.) And CPAC had a large number of impressive black pols, from Allan West to Mia Love to former Democrat Artur Davis speaking, and a number of twenty something young blacks who clearly intend to join them.
The Podesta dingelberries also wrote a hit piece claiming they had interviewed 10 people who all opposed gay rights. We knew leftovers can’t do arithmetic (see Obama, Reid, Pelosi re: budgets) so it is not surprising they don’t know statistics (10 cherry picked people – you know they only asked people over 60 – out of thousands of attendees is not statistically significant, and this is why you flunked math and had to be Podesta streetwalkers). But of course the best attended panel at CPAC this year, aside from major famous speakers like Rand Paul or Ted Cruz, was the Competitive Enterprise Institute’s “Rainbow on the Right” featuring pro-gay marriage speakers from National Review, CEI, GOProud, and the non-partisan Freedom to Marry. And Rand Paul won the straw poll, while anti-gay Rick Santorum got 8% – if CPACers really cared about stopping gay marriage, wouldn’t more than 8% have voted for standard bearer Rick Santorum? (Also CEI was not alone – Breitbart.com, which hosted a panel for a different group excluded by the main CPAC organizers, was going to host a gay rights panel, but CEI beat them to it.)
Last year the neo-Stalinist wannabee Reifenstahls at Talking Points Memo wrote a hit piece on gays at CPAC where they posted a kind of Twitchy version of Craigslist ads from gays looking to hook up at CPAC2012. Looking through the ads they were all rather tame, non-freaky, non-fetish ads from 22 year old gay guys wanting to finally spend the night with someone of like mind. Shocking! Men in their twenties having a hormonal surge when away in a big city in a hotel with people who share many of their passions. Unbelievable. So this year I posted a political spoof sex ad on Craigslist (I’ve done that before for other situations), hoping to cause gnashing of leftover teeth (it’s worked before – leftovers will flag your ad if you make fun of them):
Unfortunately no leftovers bit, though several people wanted to meet me and a couple of anonymous young things sent me racy pictures (by the way Podesta quislings – there were definitely African American gays at CPAC2013, and I have the photos they sent me to prove it).

In particular he called them “house faggots,” which is probably projection, given Democratic party gays’ long tradition of sucking up slights, evasions and half-measures, while bending over and spreading their wallets for politicians who otherwise ignore them.
It was kind of an odd charge though, since the group he was attacking, GOProud, is not a membership organization, and has an advisory board heavy with heterosexuals, like author Margaret Hoover and taxpayer advocate Grover Norquist. How can these people be house faggots when they aren’t even faggots?
One supposes he was aiming at the group’s director, Jimmy LaSalvia, and founder, Chris Barron, who are bonafide (as it were) homosexuals, or perhaps its staff, a uniformly delectable group of college age gay interns (I have visited their Capitol Hill office). The curiosity there is that Chris Barron did not endorse Romney, but instead is supporting Libertarian presidential candidate Governor Gary Johnson, and was indeed a Johnson delegate this May at the Libertarian Party nominating convention. Further the GOProud advisory board endorsement was not unanimous, and even the endorsement they did issue had a heavy context of “gay people are more than simply gays, they also are taxpayers who need jobs and a president who will not lie to them, hence Barack Obama fails on all counts,” and for those who are two party faithful, only one “hold your nose” or “hope he evolves” choice remains (and Romney’s history is certainly one of … evolutions).
The gay trolls who live in the leftover blogosphere are in their usual ferment. Too ugly to leave their basements for a gay bar or film festival, they sit at home all night on their PCs typing howlers in worship of their hero Keenan Houlahan. The comments at the leftoid RawStory are particularly laughable. The author manages not to know or report any of the facts I laid out (GOProud board may be mainly straights, Barron a Libertarian not supporting Romney, etc.). The insectoid readers continue on, discussing Log Cabin Republicans, which is (1) not GOProud, (2) a membership organization, and (3) has, I believe, not (yet) endorsed Romney. And of course these poor anencephalic poofters (no doubt doubly anencephalic, actually) begin barking about how white gay males who are part of the 1% identify with the ruling class, even as these leftoid pole smokers defend their master’s use of predator drones to kill gay children in Arabia, his placing of gay and lesbian Americans on his Presidential kill list, and his bailout of crony capitalists who control the Federal Reserve System. And even while gay white male Keenan Houlahan strokes these sheeple and laughs all the way to the bank and his White House dinners with their money.
Good thing so many of them will not breed.

GOProud Comes to Joe the Plumber’s Defense

GOProud has a new friend: Republican House candidate Samuel “Joe the Plumber” Wurzelbacher.
Following his interview this morning on CNN, in which he was questioned about previous statements made about LGBT people, Wurzelbacher and Jimmy LaSalvia, executive director of GOProud, released the following joint statement:
“The left and their friends in the main stream media don’t want to talk about the issue most Americans in this country today care about — jobs. Instead, they want a culture war. They want a culture war because they cannot defend this President’s record of failure when it comes to creating jobs and growing our economy. They hope to cynically distract Americans to protect President Obama and his liberal allies in Congress in November. The bottom line is that whether you are gay or straight, black or white, male or female, conservative or liberal, what matters most in these tough economic times is leadership in Washington that will work to create jobs for all Americans.”
In addition, Wurzelbacher said in the statement, “This is just more games from the liberal media, who want to try to attack me and distract from the issues that matter to most Americans. I showed this morning that I will not back down to the pressure from national liberal spokesmen, and I will not be distracted from my focus of creating jobs in Northern Ohio.
“I am not a career politician and I certainly do not speak like one, but I want everyone to know that I believe in treating every American, gay or straight, with decency and respect,” he concluded in the statement.
Wurzelbacher will face Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D) in the fall election for Ohio’s 9th congressional district.
